Royal Wedding Wednesday - Last Of Charles And Diana's Wedding Gifts

Joining with Royal Wedding Wednesday with Decor To Adore for my last post of 3 I think, on the wedding gifts received by Prince Charles and Princess Diana for the wedding in 1981 from thew booklet we got while viewing the wedding gifts at St. James Palace, London shortly after the wedding when we were there for our annual buying trip.  I no longer have the original as it was purchased by an NBC producer last November tight after the engagement of Prince William and Kate was announced. I had copies of half the pages which I then was asked for by a producer with ITV UK in conjunction with TLC channel...so you will be hearing more about the subject during the week before the wedding.

Royal Wedding Gift to Charles & Diana from Prince William's Nanny's Family

Thanks to Edward Hobson of ITV UK for letting me know that I forgot an important wedding gift in the list of posts I have done on Time Was Antiques Family blog here, that was a pair of brass wall sconces received by Prince Charles and Princess Diana at their Royal Wedding in 1981 that has connections to Prince William and Kate's wedding.


Gift # 179 from the catalog of gifts from the St. Jame's Palace, London gift exhibition was from Mrs. W Legge Bourke. The importance of that, which I missed, was that Mrs. Legge Bourke is the mother of Tiggy Legge Bourke who was Prince Charles assistant and nanny to Prince William and Prince Harry. There was a rather publicized falling out between Tiggy and Princess Diana just prior to he death in 1997.


The connection to Prince William and Kate's wedding, is that Tiggy's son Tom Pettifer, who is Will's godson, is to be second pageboy at the wedding. Cool!

It's raining again here, but we had 2 lovely, sunny days. We could clearly see the coast of Vancouver Island, and the areas surrounding Victoria, B.C. Canada across the Strait of Juan De Fuca. Gorgeous! We have had 3 Orca playing in the harbor of Port Angeles, inside the breakwater for the last 2 days as well. How fun! They were easily seen from the docks and Coho Ferry. This is a fairly unusual thing, so a great excitement to us locals.

Royal Wedding Wednesday - Kate and Will Request Charitable Donation instead of wedding gifts

The Prince Of Wales website has just announcedthat Prince William and Kate Middleton in gratitude for the best wishes received by them for their upcoming wedding, have launched a charitable giving website and are encouraging donations rather than wedding gifts.


I think that's pretty cool!  I have been chronicling the wedding gifts received by Prince William's parents Prince Charles and Princess Diana. There were nearly 1,000 on exhibit in London several months after the wedding when we visited the exhibition at St. James Palace.

To change gears, in honor of St. Patrick's Day I want to share several items of Irish Belleek eggshell porcelain with shamrock patterns from Time Was Antiques. I just love them and their luster finish is lovely.

I plan to cook my corned beef tomorrow after soaking it to get rid of some of the extra salt. Then I will do half the cooking time tomorrow in the crock pot and finish on Thursday with potatoes,cabbage, onions and carrots. A favorite St. Patrick's Day meal.  Hope you enjoy an Irish flare this week.
