I chose this pretty Shelley China, England turquoise cup because of the snowflake theme in the center. January always speaks to me of snow and cold. This year has been a very dry one for us in the Pacific Northwest so far. It was supposed to be another La Nina which means wet and cold but hasn't been anything like the long, cold, wet winter we had last year to date.
Back to the teacup...which is in the Lincoln shape and was made between 1963 and 1966 when the pottery closed. I love the elegance and the pretty gold decoration!

Haha, ruth, I laughed out loud about the camel saddle. Too funny.
I LOVE that stunning Shelley teacup- wow it is gorgeous.
Love your blog.
Really pretty teacup. I like the shape very much.
It must be a chore receiving those gifts. How do you get enthusiastic about a camel saddle?
Hi Ruth,
Your turquoise teacup is gorgeous! I love the Shelly teacups.
Imagine being gifted a camel saddle! But what, I wonder, do you give someone who has everything?
Blessings,
Sandi
Kinda weird gifts, huh?!? Oh my, but I LOVE the beautiful teacup and saucer that you featured. Give me that any day over a camel saddle!!! Happy 2012!
Catching up with you "tea"-day and just love all the news from across the pond! Where does the royal family keep all these years of Christmas gifts from all and sundry royals!
I did recently see this Shelley teacup and almost got it thinking it would do well for winter - but I just couldn't pull myself to do it when I found the green one I featured a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps - if it is still at the shop when I visit again . . .
Joy!
Kathy
Beautiful cup and fabulous color and sweet little snowflake .... I was interested that you called it lincoln shaped...I had never heard that before...Thanks... I too laughed about the camel saddle.... Enjoy your week...Hugs
What a beautiful cup & saucer. I think this is my favorite color for tea cups, and it must be the favorite color for many others too because I used to bid on them on Ebay( this color)and I was always outbid. I gave up and quit Ebay, I don't need any more teacups to store, but still admire them all.
I really appreciate the knowledge you have to share regarding them, thank-you.
BTW, we live in the same state, and you live in a particularly beautiful place.
Oh Ruth, that is a gorgeous Shelly. Such a pretty blue and with that snowflake. I am sure I have not seen that one before. Thank you so much for sharing it with us all.
Hugs,
Terri

Hi Ruth,
the aqua Shelley tea cup is really a treasure. Looks majestic in that particular color.
Best greetings, Johanna
Hi Ruth,
Your blue teacup with the snowflake design is gorgeous. I don't think I own any Shelley teacups. Thank you for sharing the royalties gifts with us.
