I am really enjoying the fall season. The colors can be glorious. But already the trees are half empty having dropped the leaves that glowed so brightly so recently....sigh. I am sharing an autum hued brownd transferware teacup with a wierd name. The cup and saucer is by Samuel Radford, England and was made in the 1930-1940s with the pattern name of Colonial Overhang. I just can't figure that out!!! Any bright ideas????
The cup and saucer is hand colored, which I love because no 2 are ever exactly alike. The teacup is ironstone and humble but so warm and homey to me...or homely if your a Brit!
I am also participating with Vintage Thingie Thursday. My vintage thingie is a toast rack. Toast racks were and still are to a certain extent, fixtures of English breakfast tables. And...you have to get used to lukewarm crispy toast to love them. But, you then have a great excuse to slather on the butter and jam to enjoy the toast.
Toast racks showed up in England in the 18th century and have been made in most materials from sterling silver to bone china with ivory and bakelite somewhere in the middle! This is a 1950s Old Hall toast rack with a very modern feel. Toast racks are now being used also as napkin holders and as letter racks in the office which is a great example for repurposing items. Recycling antiques & collectibles is green!!!!!

I want to share a fabulous Aynsley, England teacup made to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
I really love the dark cobalt blue background. There is applied raised enamel paint on the flag and other areas, and lots of burnished gold trim and overlay. Aynsley is always a wonderful manufacturer and they did a wonderful job on this special occasion teacup.

This is a fall leaves wreth from the September/October 2008 issue of Victoria Magazine. I love Victoria and was a charter subscriber when they began back in 1988. I also subscribed when they started up again with a new publisher. My favorite!
And from my own front door, a wreath of fabric leaves and filmy, metallic gold accented ribbon that I made. The white door made it difficult to photograph, but....

Teatime Tuesday
As my heart count down indicates, the Royal Wedding of Prince William & Kate Middleton is just a bit over 2 months away. I order some mugs from England but they are delayed in customs. Sigh...
But, I did get some pin back buttons featuring the couple on their engagement with the Union Jack behind that I quite like. You van see the ring which I really like which belonged to Williams's mother, Princess Diana. Cool!

To travel back a few years, I also just added a really neat Aynsley, England double handles mug or loving cup made to commemorate Prince William's birth in 1982. It is just beautiful and the usual Aynsley outstanding quality. That's a drawing of Windsor Castle on the front and the dedication on the back.

Tomorrow we head to Victoria, B. C. Canada for the Victoria Tea Festival which is always fun. We get to check out the refurbished Coho ferry, so that will be fun. Intend going to our favorite Indian food restaurant and seeing an IMAX also at the Royal B.C. Museum. A great day...it always is. Think we might have some tea.....
